ASUS EyeCare Flicker-Free TechnologyFlicker is caused by the rapid on/off cycle of the LED backlight as it tried to maintain the brightness of the display. It constantly bombards the eye with varying levels of brightness which causes fatigue and strain as your eye tries to adjust. Certified flicker-free by TUV Rheinland laboratories, the PB328Q removes onscreen flicker by using Smart Dynamic Backlight Adjustment. |
ASUS EyeCare Low Blue Light FilterRecent studies have found that blue light from monitors may cause eye damage, strains, headaches, and sleep disorders. ASUS Blue Light Filter protects your eyes from harmful blue light; a new OSD menu lets you easily access and select four different filter settings onscreen for the best balance for protection and entertainment. |
Ergonomic StandPB328Q has an ergonomically-designed stand with tilt, swivel, pivot and height adjustment so you can always find that ideal viewing position. |

I was a little bit hesitant about ordering this monitor because of some of the reviews. Some reporting that the monitors that they had received went through poor QC. Spending close to $500 on something that may be faulty is a little unnerving. But... I really wanted a monitor with these specs so I pulled the trigger. Low and behold this is a beautiful monitor. I loved it so much, that I ordered 2 more. My first 1 was ordered April of 2016 and the other 2 May of 2017.
Previous setup was 3 ASUS VS247H-P 23.6" TN panels. They were great monitors. But, I was a little disappointed in them with using Lightroom. When I received my first PB328Q I was amazed by the size, colors and how deep the blacks are compared to the VS247H monitors. I can't stress how big of a difference their is in the black levels.
Viewing angles are also very impressive. I notice very, very little color or brightness changes when moving side to side or up and down. Looking across the monitor at an extreme angle text is still perfectly readable and color is slightly washed out. The menus are very easy to navigate with
the toggle on the back right side.
The stands are very sturdy and allow for a great range of adjustment. Monitors can be moved up and down with 1 finger and they turn from side to side with ease. With the heft of the these monitors, the bases do not slip and slide when adjusting them. Putting them into portrait mode is great for if you want to look at a whole Word document and not have to scroll to read an entire page.
PB328Q's are connected to a GTX 980ti graphics card via AmazonBasics 10' DisplayPort (DP) cables (which are compliant to DP version 1.2). I had to go into the NVIDIA control panel and change the refresh rate from 60Hz to 75Hz. Also change DP input version from 1.1 to 1.2 in the monitor settings itself.
Having extra USB ports come in handy for plugging in web cams, flash drives or even a dongle for XBOX One controller. Each monitor has 4 USB 3.0 ports on the left side. Witch is great, but... If having a multi monitor setup they do get blocked by the other monitor sitting next to it. So you just have to be mindful of what and where you may want something plugged in the ports. Also be careful if you have something such as a dongle for XBOX One controller plugged in. They stick out few inches and could potentially damage the port of dongle when turning the monitors.
With a resolution of 2560x1440 I am able to display 4 720p YouTube videos perfectly on each monitor (added photos to show how much screen space is on 1440p). Games are also so much... How shall I say... Prettier??? The level of detail that you get with 1440p over 1080p is truly awesome. With the 980 TI games are all set at highest settings and still get between 70fps - 120fps (games such as: BF4, BF1, GTAV, Titanfall 1&2, PUBG etc.). As for the 75Hz for gaming... I can't say weather or not it actually makes much of a difference, perhaps slightly. But being a weekend gamer, when I can, I'll take whatever advantage I can get.
I highly recommend the ASUS PB328Q monitor for anyone looking to upgrade to a larger monitor with good colors and blacks and don't want to spend the money on the ultra high end, ultra wide monitors with an ultra high price tag that comes with those monitors. I was able to purchase 3 of these with 10' power, DP and USB 3.0 cables for about the same price as a single ultra wide costs. And I get a lot more screen real estate for the price. I sit roughly 36" away from the center monitor and with a 32" monitor, it's a perfect size for reading text, using MS Office, playing games, editing photos or anything else.
I would also like to point out that their size is not small. At about 28.75" wide, with 3 of these sitting on my desk they take up around 75" of desk space.

VA vs IPS:
One of the main things that drew me to this monitor was that it was a VA panel which gives superb contrast and much better viewing angles than TN (but not as good as IPS). I use a 27" iMac at work and my roommate’s Asus PB278Q IPS/PLS screen. Compared to those IPS screens the color is not quite as vivid and bright, but still much better than any TN panel I have used. The reason I chose VA over IPS for this 32" screen is to avoid the IPS glow. I play a lot of dark video games and while using the Asus PB278Q 27" IPS screen I noticed some IPS glow around the edges. It was distracting enough that it pushed me over to VA to avoid it, ESPECIALLY on a 32" screen where the larger angles would further increase glow. On the other hand my iMac IPS work screen is perfect in the bright office lighting. So if you use your screen in brightly lit areas I would recommend an IPS screen for the vivid colors. If you are looking for fantastic contrast and want to avoid IPS glow I would pick a VA screen.
Responsiveness:
I use my computer primarily for gaming so screen lag is something I worry about. I have heard stories of VA panels being slow. In short, this screen is very responsive. Moving from a TN pannel I noticed no increased screen lag. Part of the reason I picked this screen over the BenQ BL3200PT is that it has lower lag (tomshardware has the BenQ at 76 for absolute input lag vs the Asus at 41). This screen also runs at 75hz over display port which is a great addition.
Color and settings:
Overall the colors are very good and neutral. I never realized how off the whites on my older screens were until I compared it to the neutral white of this screen. As good as they are they didn't WOW me like the IPS screens I have used, but I think the contrast tradeoff is worth it. Overall they are still much better than any TN panels which I have used.
On the topic of color I want to address the settings of the monitor. I made the adjustments that Tom's Hardware recommended BUT you should turn VividPixel off. It increases the contrast around the edges of shapes but in reality it gives everything a weird boarder.
I would also like to point out that my screen has NO dead pixels and the backlighting is very uniform.
The monitor is also very physically attractive and the stand is ROCK SOLID and very easy to move.
Once you go 2650x1440 you'll never go back. I think that is the perfect resolution for a 32".
Overall for the money (I paid $575) this is hits all of the important considerations general use, movies, and gaming.
Top reviews from other countries
For me even though I wanted to go 4K, I couldn't get behind it yet. I settled on this monitor because of a lot of factors
-It looks fantastic, has a thin bezel and can pivot, tilt, swivel, portrait, landscape,,, you name it..
-It has a great resolution of 2560x1440, It works perfect to maintain a proper aspect ratio from 1080p (I was considering ultrawide...decided not to) and still gives you a decent crisp density without having to scale like 4K. This monitor is 92PPI @ 32" which is the same a 1080P at 24"
-Colors are great, even, no bleed and if you read the tomshardware review they have already calibrated it and posted the correct settings. Done
-Great refresh rate @ 75Hz, low input lag and quick pixel response all mean you can game on this IMO. I'm a casual gamer, but I couldn't stand certain monitors. It'snot a gaming monitor, but it will do you just fine
All in all this is probably the best monitor you can buy. It is a great size and perfect viewing distance from an arm length away. Lots of screen real estate, great for reading, productivity and coding. Fast enough response times to game and color accurate enough to know you're very close to the real thing.
There is just one thing...and yes many people bring it up and it is the quality control. I bought this monitor originally from another retailer when it was on sale and it came with a dead pixel, which I promptly returned. I bought it on Amazon afterwards and the new one was flawless. If you don't mind trying to look for the perfect one you will find the diamond in the rough and you will be glad you did.
I really love this thing, everything about it is just perfect for me! I seen a lot of reports of bad pixels and defects so I was a little worried but I can't find anything wrong with mine. Maybe one dim pixel in one corner but can't really notice it? I was especially worried because I bought a 'used' one for a pretty good deal from Amazon warehouse. But other than the sketchy packaging (was packed in a super-huge beat up box!) this thing looks and works perfectly. In fact I had bought this for someone else in our office but just couldn't let it go after 'testing' it at home!
I'm coming from 2x24" monitors, one was an old Westinghouse VA monitor (great color but terrible ghosting and response). The other an Asus vg24qe 144hz that I used mainly for gaming. I had installed a gsync module into it and it was awesome when playing games - but the colors were very washed out. Now with this monitor I feel like I have the best of both worlds! Excellent color and contrast - even better then the old Westy. And pretty descent gaming performance, with 75hz and reasonably good input lag. While it's clearly not as smooth as the 144hz and there is some slight ghosting, the contrast, colors and huge size make up for it big time! I play BF4, Witcher 3 and Civ V mostly and these look stunning on the huge 32" screen!
I also do a lot of coding and photoshop on the monitor and it's ideal for these tasks. The 2560x14440 resolution I feel is perfectly mated to the screen size, I think the fonts would be too small for me if it was 4k and it's a lot easier on my video card (gtx 980).
The look of the monitor is very professional, nothing flashy just a nice clean thin bezel design with an amazingly solid stand. It also has pretty decent speakers - probably the best monitor speakers that I ever heard!
Go for it!
And you know what? This is my first review ever. I have two 144hz monitors for FPS games already. One Benq 24" and one Asus 27". Since Fighting games are locked at 60fps I thought I would get a 32" monitor with better image quality to make them even better. At first I was a bit scared to receive one with dead or stuck pixels and/or other issues but EVERYTHING is perfect. In fact, everything was so perfect I had to write this review just to let y'all know it's good and you won't be disapointed. I don't recommend for FPS/RTS and/or MOBAS but if you like RPGs/fighting games and/or any offline games in general and want good quality THIS IS THE ONE.
